After over 6,000 requests were received last year by the management of the Zebulon Pike 16 Movie Theater Complex in Denver to open a theater where smoking pot would be allowed, the owners took action. Lance Swanee, manager of the facility, stated that the theater was expected to open Aug 15th of this year according to Westword.com.
In reality, the social venues in Colorado that can apply for licenses that will allow people to consume marijuana in public were not allowed until 2019 when Governor Polis signed off on the new legislation. Patrons of the movie theater could feel free to pop some CBD gummies though during the movie though after hemp derivatives became legal federally in 2018.
The theater, known officially as Theater 13, will be renamedPot Palladium and will only be showing R-rated movies. According to another report, a fellow manager also stated:
All of the movies shown in Theater will be R – rated. You can can actually enjoy a movie while smoking pot and have a very relaxing experience. People are very excited to have a smoking theater where they can pass joints, if the theater puts in the right kind of ventilation to meet state regulations and qualify for a license.
