Missouri lawmakers have passed a new bill that will prevent law enforcement from using the smell of marijuana as the sole basis for vehicle or property searches.
Under the new bill, law enforcement will need a reason to believe that the substance they’re searching for is located on the vehicle or property. This means that the smell of marijuana won’t be sufficient justification for a search, no matter how strong it might be.
This new bill is a major victory for marijuana advocates in Missouri, and it could set a precedent for similar legislation in other states. It’s important to support bills like this, because they represent a significant shift in the way that marijuana is viewed by the government. Thank you to all of the lawmakers who voted in favor.
