The Bloody Mary is arguably one of the most iconic alcoholic beverages of all time. Known throughout the world as a tasty cure for the dreaded hangover, this delicious beverage has helped many a poor soul deal with the sometimes severe after-effects of having a little too much fun the night before.
While the Bloody has as many different recipe variations as there are stars in the sky, one of the ingredients that is pretty much a constant is vodka. By luck, this particular spirit just so happens to be an excellent solution for creating your own cannabis tincture! When added to the below recipe you’re going to be in for a good time!
The first step in the process is to create the actual tincture. For that you will need a vodka that is at least 50 percent alcohol or 100 proof as the base. You will need 10 ounces of 100 proof vodka (your choice) along with ¾ oz or 22g finely ground weed which needs to be de-carbed first. This is done by heating the weed in your oven at 150 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately an hour.
After the hour wait, remove the weed from the oven and make sure it crumbles easily to verify that it is ready to go. Next, you’ll want to powder the weed and soak it in water for about half a day so that any water soluble impurities can be removed. Then, remove the excess water and place the powder in an airtight container after pouring your choice of vodka over it.
Then, store your concoction in a cool, dark place for at very least ten days (the longer the better), making sure to shake the container regularly. Lastly, filter the solution through a cheesecloth enough times to remove the solid particles until all that’s left is the clear fluid that is your cannabis tincture.
Now that your tincture is ready, all you need to do is follow the below easy steps to make your own Bloody Mary-Janes!
6 slices peppered bacon
3 1/4 cups tomato juice
1 1/4 cups vodka/cannabis tincture
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon horseradish
2 teaspoons hot sauce (or to taste)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
Sprinkling of freshly ground pepper
6 celery stalks
1. Prepare the bacon in a large pan over medium heat, making sure to turn occasionally. Once they reach a golden brown and are crispy (after about 10 minutes) remove and place the slices on paper towels so that they can absorb some of the excess grease.
2. Mix together the tomato juice, vodka/cannabis tincture, lemon juice, horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a pitcher; refrigerate until ready to serve.
3. Pour the mixture into 6 large ice-filled glasses, adding a piece of bacon (or more if you’d like) and a celery stalk to each then enjoy!
