Todd talks with Nick Kovacevich – CEO, Co-Founder and Chairman of KushCo Holdings
In his role as CEO for KushCo Holdings, Nick directs all business relations and financial strategy for the company. Nick also oversees the organization’s senior management team. Nick has been integral in making critical strategic, growth, and financial decisions since the company’s inception. Nick is a frequent contributor to Forbes as well as Fox News on cannabis policy.
I’ve also re-included the pitch for you below to reference.
Todd speaks to cannabis executive Nick Kovacevich about why MORE Act approaches a likely defeat in the Senate and why the Biden/Harris Administration is good for the cannabis industry.
We talk about that if the MORE Act doesn’t pass, there is still an opportunity for portions of the bill to come to life via new legislation or executive order. With topics like small business stimulus and the expungement of low-level drug offenses still top of mind for the industry, Nick’s advice for what’s next for cannabis decriminalization includes:
Campaign for the Runoffs: With two crucial Senate seats hanging in the balance in Georgia, the cannabis industry can support the Democratic candidates to hopefully secure a more cannabis-friendly Senate.
Grassroots Initiatives: If the MORE Act doesn’t make it through the Senate, there are grassroots initiatives that the industry can be pushing now to ensure a quick return to the floor. Biden and Harris will be effective in championing legislation over the next four years, and the MORE Act is a reminder to Biden/Harris that reform is still a priority.
Executive Order Options: National decriminalization needs to lead to local and state prison reform, including incentivizing the expungement of low-level marijuana offenses. National reform also impacts immigrant and lower income communities. Biden has the option to issue executive orders that would support decriminalization, including the lessening of punitive charges for cannabis use. The industry needs to push the Biden/Harris administration to keep the promises they ran on in supporting these initiatives.
