This is a sad story. I’m always trying to keep everything upbeat over here but sometimes a dose of reality is necessary. I’m Christine Sclafani with TNMNews. Many of you may have heard of the non-profit marijuana advocacy group NORML. They have been one of the most monumental forces in the country pushing for an end to prohibition. Doug Greene had been a member of NORML in New York for over 30 years and was one of the loudest voices championing the legalization movement.
He appeared on the cover of a recent issue of Crain’s New York Business smoking a joint and received a CannaGather Award in April. He was one of the most influential people pushing for New York to legalize recreational marijuana. On June 4th he entered the subway station on the Upper West Side and was fatally struck by a train. Authorities are still trying to determine what could have led to such a tragic event.
The National Marijuana News wants to send out its deepest condolences to all of Doug’s loved ones and to NORML. We are all in this fight together to end prohibition and losing such a powerful advocate is a loss for us all.
