The TNMNews Managing Editor, Richard Lowe, was invited to the Temescal Wellness recreational marijuana dispensary in Hudson, MA for an interview. He spoke with VP of Sales and Marketing at Temescal Wellness, Linda Katz. She talks about the challenges of setting up an adult-use cannabis dispensary in Massachusetts, the first East Coast state to sell recreational cannabis, and some of their plans for the future. The two also discuss some of the products offered at Temescal Wellness and what business has been like so far.

This is Richard Lowe with The National Marijuana News. Today I’m in Hudson
Massachusetts at Temescal Wellness, one of the first adult use marijuana
dispensaries to open here in the state of Massachusetts and I’m joined by Linda Katz VP of Sales and Marketing. Thank you for joining us. So, can you tell our viewers about kind of some of the challenges and what it’s been like
setting up a dispensary here in Massachusetts, the first state on the
entire East Coast to actually start selling cannabis?
Yeah well we actually started in New England back in 2015, we started in New Hampshire, a strictly medical state. So we opened two ATC’s there and then made our way down to Massachusetts in 2018 very quickly. We opened this facility in Hudson in June and our production and cultivation facility in June and then opened in Framingham and in Pittsfield in that fall so it worked very quickly. I think one of the things that we were most proud of is our ability to work with those different municipalities. I mean currently we work with nine different municipalities and because compliance is such a huge part of what we do it’s been, I don’t wanna say it’s an easy process, it’s never easy but we were able to move pretty quickly and so we were the first company to open two adult use facilities. We’re excited to be part of this new wave.
So, if people want to come and visit Temescal Wellness, what can they look forward to? What can they find here at the dispensary?
Yeah this is something that we’re so excited about. So, we opened in February and we were very very might I say cautious. but we wanted to make sure that we understood the shopping trends and the market and make sure we had product for everybody, so we had some limits in place. We’re starting to relax those limits which has been exciting for all of our customers. So, we have a huge range of flower, huge range of cartridges which is the limit we just raised which is exciting. Everything from distillate cartridges to full spectrum cartridges. We’ve got edibles, that’s the next big thing is bringing on more and more brands even from out west are making their way out here. So more edible brands, we’ve got skincare, we’ve got tinctures. So yeah, it’s a huge range a really high quality product. So we manufacture a lot of it ourselves in Worcester. We’ve got a great production facility, great team, so that’s great.
I certainly enjoyed coming here to Temescal Wellness. I thought your budtenders are very well informed. So, this is a big question because we
have a very national audience. There’s so much anticipation about next April, the whole month long 420, so if people want to come to Massachusetts what can they look forward to from Temescal Wellness? Are you guys ready for that? Are you doing anything special for it?
Yeah, I mean we’re planning, we don’t have anything to announce yet but we know it’s gonna be a big big event. I think you know to your point, our staff is incredibly knowledgeable because they started with the medical background here, they’re super capable of helping anybody. We’re finding in this adult use market, people are coming to us from all different levels and we just want to make sure that we’re able to support them through whatever journey they’re making through this cannabis world. So the staff is super willing to help you no matter what. If you don’t know anything or if you know everything and just want you know the products you want. they’re very helpful.
