One of the best things about marijuana legalization is that it is getting everyone involved. It doesn’t matter what color your skin is, your faith, sexual orientation or gender, there is space for you in the cannabis industry. I am Christine Sclafani for The National Marijuana News and I recently read a story about HollyWeed, a cannabis brand based in California which was founded by Renee Gagnon, a transgender woman.
She is the CEO of the growing company but before that played a major role in developing Emerald Health Therapeutics, which is a publicly traded cannabis company. She transitioned before Emerald Health went public and was forced to step aside, but that did not keep her from pushing forward and creating HollyWeed.
I love seeing the LGBQ community getting involved in the cannabis space and love that the legalization of marijuana is about so much more than just getting high, though that is really cool too. Cannabis is bringing to light social injustice and prejudice everywhere. Whoever would have thought that this little weed could become symbolic of so many things worldwide?
